This illustration depicts the search of our inner wisdom, soul and mind set. I illustrated a human being walking through the desert till confront a cosmic versión of the Mystery hand/philosophers.
Feeling that we are in a desert, we walk looking for and struggle to find that long-awaited source of water and life, it is the perfect place to re-connect and create new things.
The hand is rendered as a cosmos to depicts the inner universe that forms us and we sometimes unknown. Each element in the hand has its own meaning:
Philosophically, the key represents the Mysteries themselves, without whose aid a human being can’t unlock the numerous chambers of his own being. The lantern is human knowledge, for it is a spark of the Universal Fire captured in a human-made vessel; it is the light of those who dwell in the inner universe and with the aid of which they seek to follow in the footsteps of Truth. The sun, which may be termed the 'light of the world,' represents the luminescence of creation through which human beings may learn the mystery of all creatures which express through form and number.
The star is the Universal Light which reveals cosmic and celestial verities. The crown is Absolute Light—unknown and unrevealed—whose power shines through all the lesser lights that are but sparks of this Eternal Effulgence.
And the eye in the center of the hand is related with the vision, the light in the wisdom as the eternal spiral, a symbol of creation and development, both in relation to nature and in terms of the psychological reality of the human being.
